  1. What will be my responsibilities as a new UX designer in my project team?

As a UX designer, your primary responsibility will be researching with your product manager to understand user needs and translate them into intuitive and practical design solutions. This may involve:

  • User Research

  • Information Architecture Design

  • User Journey Mapping

  • Wireframing

  • Prototyping

  • Usability testing

 

  1. What tools/software should I be familiar with?

Our organization Nebula Labs primarily uses four applications:

  1. Figma: We primarily utilize Figma for designing and prototyping. Please ensure that all of your project files are saved in the team drive of Nebula Labs.

  2. Confluence/Jira: All meeting notes and anything related to documentation should be made and used within your respective Confluence/Jira project space. If you cannot access it, please contact your project lead and the Head of Design.

  3. FigJam: All design prints, brainstorming, and user research (i.e User Persona, User Journey Map, etc.) should be compiled into a Figjam document within the team drive of Nebula Labs.

  4. Discord: Discord will serve as our main communication platform. It is essential that every member has a Discord account, as crucial updates and announcements will be shared through this platform.

 

  1. What’s the process of integrating project design into Nebula Labs?

In order to ensure designs are consistent with the organization’s branding and products, all designers should install the following kits in the Assets tab of their Figma account

  1. Join the Nebula Labs project team

  2. Open any Figma Design File

  3. Click the Assets

  1. Click on the Book Icon

  1. Search up “Shipfaster UI - v2.3 (Live)” and “Outline Wireframe Kit”

 

6. Click the Toggle icon to turn on

 

We strive to hold a design meeting every week to review each person's designs and provide feedback. Additionally, I offer occasional one-on-one design sessions to keep track of your progress and offer guidance as needed. Any scheduled meetings will be announced through Discord.

 

All communication and announcement will be communicated mainly through Discord.

 

As a UX designer, you'll work closely with your team lead, product manager(s), developer(s), and the Head of Design. Clear and effective communication is key, as well as understanding and respecting the roles and perspectives of other team members.

 

Your team leader will serve as your primary contact, providing you with assistance and support as you acclimate to your role. Nonetheless, to receive guidance and feedback on design, you can approach Nebula Labs's Head of Design.
