New members

• Everyone accepted to the team should have access to the API board

• If you weren’t accepted, all the repos are public. You won’t specifically be assigned tasks but you can still pick stuff up and get added later

• L1, L2, and L3 tasks denote rough difficulty

• Josh will not assign tasks, just ask to pick one up!

  • Try to finish in a week of two

• Recruits vs. member

  • all new people are recruits right now

  • promotion to member comes at the end of the first semester after regular attendance and work

  • gains voting rights

• you can totally work in groups or solve the issues however you want

Repos

• GitHub - UTDNebula/nebula-api: The central API for Nebula Labs. Makes UTD data easily available through endpoints for both internal and public usage.

  • middleman for MongoDB and user

• GitHub - UTDNebula/api-tools: CLI-based tool which facilitates the scraping, parsing, and uploading of data for Nebula Labs' API.

  • Actually finds and formats the data

• Stay up to date on info in the API Discord channel

Contribution process

• Go to the repo, make a fork

• make changes based on an issue

• make a PR

Recent and ongoing API changes

• unit testing is being worked on in the tools

  • breaks down code into small pieces and tests them

  • headless example (the api-tools are now headless by default)

  • going over some of the utils functions that get tested

• cloud storage

• improving existing functionality: more endpoints!
