Interactions with Dean Adams in Spring 2023

Overview

The Nebula leadership team met with Dean Adams twice to promote Nebula Labs for ECS administration. We also wanted to establish a relationship with the Dean that we could then leverage to achieve our goals of obtaining university data more sustainably and getting university acknowledgment and possibly adoption of our products.

Ultimately, while the Dean was enthusiastic about our ideas during our interactions with her, we experienced a lack of follow-through on the Dean’s end of things.

Donuts With the Dean

Eric Boysen talked to the Dean briefly during Donuts with the Dean. The Dean had heard about Nebula Labs through Dr. Crynes and Jen but was under the impression that the org was a startup company. This interaction served to clarify that Nebula Labs is a student organization and foster interest in Dean Adams to learn more about what we do.

Nebula Demo (April 28th)

Nebula Labs spoke to the Dean on April 28th to introduce our organization and present our projects. Dean Adams was particularly interested in learning more about our tools and organization.

From ECS admin, Dean Adams and Dr. Crynes were in attendance. From Nebula Labs, Eric Boysen, Caleb Lim, David Launikitis, Adam Brunn, and William Skaggs were present. The presentation took place in the ECSW 4th floor conference room with food served.

The Dean seemed excited to see our various products and wanted to find ways to utilize Planner (the idea suggested was to promote it as a tool in ECS 1100). However, after the meeting, there was no further communication between the Dean and Nebula Labs.
