Athena Requirements

  1. Users should be able to search for classes based upon section, course number, semester, or professor name

1.1.    Search should provide relevant courses or professors first in results before sections

1.2.    Search should offer some sort of typo recovery like soundex or levenshtein

1.3.    Filters based upon semester, professor, metrics (discrete slider)

1.4.    Users should be able to view results alongside selection

1.5.    Possibly look into old search and see if we can reuse or optimize

  1. Users should be able to sign into their nebula account

2.1.    Users should be able to use the nebula sign in component to sign into their account

  1. Users should be able to set up a new nebula account

3.1.    Users can sign in using either a google account or email and password

  1. Users should be able to compare sections of a course to one another

4.1.    Maintain interactive graphs between sections

4.2.    Compare up to 3 at a time

4.3.    Overlapping radar charts

4.4.    Side by side metric bar charts

  1. Users should be able to access Athena from the UTD Grades URL for 1 year before being deprecated

  1. Users should be able to filter metrics by clicking on graphics

9.1.    Clicking on a radar graph metric should pull up a bar chart with the breakdown of that aggregate data to display specific survey or grade information

10.   Students should be able to leave survey information about a course that they have taken

10.1.                     Students need not verify that they have taken the course but they must be signed in (RMP does this and it does not seem to be an issue)

11.   Students should be asked to review courses based upon their projected courses from Planner

12.   Admins should be able to manage surveys to monitor abuse

13.   Visuals should be used on an admin board to help find trends of abusive behavior

14.   Suspicious behavior should automatically be reported to an admin
