Product Division Check-In

Meeting w/ Existing PM’s

• Only 4 PM’s showed up to the meeting

  • 2 returners

  • 2 new people who are interested

• Considering how many PM’s there were last year this turnout is quite low

Current State of PM’s

• Many of the current PM’s are not very active

• At the moment they feel very separate from the rest of the organization

• This semester we want to emphasize commitment to the organization & role

Making PM’s Feel More Included

• We want to work to make the PM’s feel apart of the organization through the following

  • Integrating them into our Nebula Discord

    • They can see how the organization runs on a day to day basis

  • Pushing them to attend regular team meetings that they are apart of

• The product division has operated as an outside entity for the last semester, and now it is critical to move them internally, both for the PM role perception and for the organization’s perception

F23 Needs For PM’s

• We need about ~10 committed PM’s

  • 3 for Planner

  • 3 for Jupiter

  • 4 for Trends / Skedge

• API / Platform currently doesn’t need much of a product perspective, but will in the future

• A smaller group of committed PM’s will be able to operate better

• How exactly they will operate still needs to be discussed

Guide

• As Guide is on the back burner we could assign product people to expand on the idea and define some more detailed requirements

  • Sharon was a big fan of the idea, but was hesitant to say unless we have the resources

• If we have have the PM’s we can assign a team to work on Guide this semester and possibly open it up again as a project this next semester

Migrating Product Communication into Discord

• Currently all communication is done through WhatsApp & Teams

• They have a group chat with all product managers then separate group chats for each team

• The Nebula Discord already has the same structure, so we can easily move the communication into that structure

• Sharon will begin moving all communication into the Nebula Discord

• PM’s mostly are going to be new to Discord, so it make a bit of time to work out the kinks

• David can host a quick Discord course at a product meeting

Product Division Information Session

• Sharon feels pretty confident on being able to do this well

• Wants to host a meeting the week after the info session to finalize PM’s role within each team

• We have a path towards finalizing who will be our PM’s and what they will be doing this semester
